How to send an international fax from your iPhone
Sending a fax abroad works the same way as a domestic one. The only part that goes wrong is the number: country codes, and the leading zero that local numbers carry in many countries. The rule that matters: drop the leading zero
In the UK, Germany and Japan, numbers written for local use start with a 0. That zero is the domestic prefix. When you dial from another country, you add the country code and drop the 0.
In HonestFax you pick the country from the flag menu, and the app adds the country code. You can type the number with or without its leading 0, and the app removes it for you.

The example numbers are for illustration only. Canada uses the same +1 code as the United States, so a Canadian number is dialed exactly like an American one.
Step by step
- On the New Fax tab, tap the flag next to Send to and choose the country.
- Type the fax number as it is written on the letter or website. Leave out any "+44" or "0049" you see in front of it, since the app adds the country code.
- Add your pages and check the cost above Send fax.
- Send, and follow the sending screen to Delivered.
Before you send abroad
- Time zones. Many offices turn fax machines off at night. If a fax keeps failing, try during the recipient's business hours. More in why a fax fails.
- Paper size. Europe and Japan use A4, the US and Canada use Letter. Fax machines handle both, but keep important text away from the very edges of the page.
