HonestFax lets you send and receive faxes from your phone. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can control it. We wrote it to match what the app actually does — not a generic template.
1. Information We Collect
Account. When you first open HonestFax, we create an anonymous account for you — no email or password required. The account is just a random ID used to track your credits, faxes, and settings.
Fax content and metadata. To send a fax, we store: the recipient's fax number, your sender name/phone/message if you fill in a cover page, the documents or scans you attach, and delivery status. If you subscribe to HonestFax Pro and receive a personal fax number, incoming faxes and their content are stored the same way, tied to your account.
Push notifications. If you enable notifications, we store a device token (via Apple Push Notification service) so we can tell you when a fax is delivered or fails.
Purchases. Credit and subscription purchases are processed by Apple and RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of what you purchased and your subscription status — we never see or store your card number or other payment details.
Usage analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the app is used — which screens are opened, which features are used, and crash/performance data. We do not send fax content or phone numbers to our analytics provider.
2. How We Use It
- To send and receive your faxes, and bill the correct number of credits.
- To show you your fax history, balance, and delivery status.
- To send delivery/failure notifications if you've enabled them.
- To auto-refund credits when a fax fails after all retry attempts.
- To improve the app based on aggregate usage patterns.
- To provide customer support when you contact us.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use fax content for advertising.
3. Who We Share It With
We use a small number of service providers to run HonestFax, each only for the purpose below:

Some of these providers process data in the United States. If you are in the EU/UK, this means your information may be transferred outside your region; our providers maintain appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.
We only disclose your information beyond this list if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of HonestFax or others.
4. How Long We Keep It
We keep your fax history and documents for as long as your account is active, so you can review past faxes. You can delete individual faxes from the Sent/Inbox screens at any time. If you delete your account (Info → Delete account), we delete your fax content, documents, and personal account data. Some records — such as the credit/purchase ledger — may be retained longer where needed for financial records or fraud prevention, in anonymized or minimal form.
5. Your Choices and Rights
- Delete your account at any time from Info → Delete account. This is permanent and cannot be undone.
- Export your history from Info → Export account history.
- Disable notifications in your device's iOS Settings.
- Restore purchases from Info → Restore Purchases.
If you are in the EU or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR/UK GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or object to the processing of your data, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us (below) to exercise these rights.
6. Children's Privacy
HonestFax is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used HonestFax to provide personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where required, notify you in the app.
