FAX from iPhone review: what the weekly plan really costs

"FAX from iPhone" is the best-known fax app on the App Store. It has been around for years and has a very large number of ratings, which a newer app can't match. This review looks at what it does well, how its pricing works, and who it suits.
What it does well
- Track record. Years on the store and a huge rating base. If you want the app most people already use, this is it.
- File formats. Its listing says it converts more than 200 file types, including Word documents. HonestFax sends scans, PDFs and photos.
- Extras. It offers email-to-fax and built-in document signing. HonestFax doesn't have either today.

How the pricing works
Every in-app purchase on its listing is an "Unlimited" subscription. There is no option to pay for a single fax. When we checked the US listing on September 29, 2026, it showed:

Several prices for the same weekly tier usually means the developer is testing prices, so what you see may differ. Prices are set in the app at the moment you subscribe, so check there before you start.
App Store subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the period ends. With a weekly plan, that renewal comes around every seven days.
What a typical year of faxing costs
Most people fax a handful of times a year: a medical form, a tax document, something for a landlord. Here is the math for a few common patterns, using the listed prices.
