How to cancel a fax app subscription on iPhone (and ask for a refund)

Many fax apps start a subscription after a short trial, often billed every week. If you only needed one fax, here is how to stop the renewals and, if you were already charged, ask Apple for your money back. The steps come from Apple's own support pages, checked on October 16, 2026.

Cancel the subscription on your iPhone

Subscriptions bought in an App Store app are managed by Apple, not by the app. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

  1. Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap the fax app's subscription.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down to see it.

If there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration date in red, the subscription is already canceled and will end on that date.

Cancel before a trial turns into a charge

If you started a free trial, Apple says to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged for the next period. You keep access until the trial ends either way.

Can't find the subscription?

  • Search your email for "receipt from Apple" or "invoice from Apple" and check which Apple Account the receipt was sent to. Sign in with that account to cancel.
  • A family member's account? Ask them to cancel it. You can't cancel another person's subscription.
  • No Apple receipt at all? The subscription may be billed by another company. Check your card statement for the name and contact them.

Ask Apple for a refund

If you were charged for a renewal you didn't want, Apple lets you request a refund:

  1. Sign in to reportaproblem.apple.com.
  2. Tap I'd like to, then choose Request a refund.
  3. Choose the reason, then Next.
  4. Choose the subscription charge, then Submit.

Apple says to expect an update within 24 to 48 hours. Refunds aren't guaranteed, and eligibility varies by country.
